A haven for memorabilia cards, 2022-23 Upper Deck Artifacts Hockey maintains the hit formula that yields three per Hobby box. Hits can be autographs, relics or tech inserts.
While the Rookie Redemption line is another focal point, the 2021-22 edition arrived too late to feature them, instead issuing live rookie cards. However, the rookie IOUs are back for '22-23.
Adding a new goalie-specific subset, the main 2022-23 Upper Deck Artifacts Hockey checklist sees an expansion to 200 cards. This breakdown consists of 100 regular base cards, 35 Stars (#101-135; #/599), 20 Goalies (#136-155; #/599), 15 Legends (#156-170; #/599), and 30 Rookies (#171-200; #/999).
Just like last year, there are many colors in the base parallel rainbow, including the Hobby-only Black (#/5).
Look for four serial-numbered base cards and/or parallels per Hobby box, with one being limited to 99 copies or less.
In addition to these parallels, there are new, Hobby-exclusive Wood (1:32), Leather (1:53) and Plexi (1:80) versions for the Base Set Stars, Goalies, Legends, and Rookies cards. Retail adds exclusive Turquoise (Blasters) and Spectrum Jungle (#/15).
From there, the base set moves to Hobby-only memorabilia editions, which are offered for select names. The base autographs and autograph relics are also only found in Hobby boxes.
